Attachment Styles

Attachment styles are a foundational theory in psychotherapy.

They provide insight into how we all act and react to important people in our lives, as they have been formed and developed as we grew up as children.

How our parents responded to our emotional needs as children can impact how we seek emotional support as adults.

Attachment theorists suggested these ways of acting can be categorised into four broad patterns; Secure, and Anxious, Avoidant, Disorganised.

Please find here a copy of the resource I have created on attachment styles.

I use this resource with clients to help begin to understand their histories, and current behaviours, through the lens of attachment theory.
