My Philosophy

  • Person-centred

I believe in working in a way that puts you as the client in charge. You will dictate what is brought and explored in each session, into what depth we go, and at what pace. We address what is important to you at that moment.

  • Empower

I believe that clients are the people who are the best experts for solving any issues they may have. They will know what feels right. I will work with you to draw out your ability to solve issues yourself.

  • No judgement

Everyone comes from their own experiences, and has had to tolerate different challenges. I do not pass judgement on what you might bring as a client. It is your life, and I will accept you for that.

  • Optimism

I take an optimistic view, believing that everyone can improve and develop. Even in the most seemingly helpless situations I believe some relief can be found.

  • Realism

I am realistic with my view of the world and of therapy practice. We can have breakthroughs that instantaneously give some return. We can also work for months and years, and know that we are doing extraordinarily well ‘just’ to survive.

  • Equity

I am conscious of the ways in which we can be different from each other. Sometimes these ways we differ mean we are oppressed and discriminated against, and contribute to different lived experiences. My work acknowledges this, and hopes to provide a space to explore and deconstruct.

“The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.”
